Cape Town style chicken gatsby with juicy chips and drenched in yummy cheese sauce

Directions

  • Put the chicken breasts in a mixing bowl and rub with salt and chicken spice. Leave to marinate (+/- 30 minutes)
  • Heat a griddle pan to hot and cook the chicken breasts (+/- 10 minutes) on each side
  • Remove, set aside, and keep warm until ready to use
  • Butter the baguettes lightly, then add the lettuce and chicken
  • Put the chips in a mixing bowl and add the cheese sauce
  • Using your hands, mix the sauce with the potatoes and top over the chicken
  • Drizzle with more cheese sauce to drench the potatoes together with the chillies and tomato sauce

Ingredients

    For the filling

    • 8 chicken breasts, cut horizontally and flattened
    • Salt, to taste
    • 45 ml (3 tbsp) chicken spice
    • 2 large potatoes, cut into thick chips

    • 2 small baguettes, sliced horizontally
    • 30 ml (2 tbsp) butter
    • Lettuce, chopped
    • cheese sauce, heated
    • fresh chillies, chopped
    • Tomato sauce
