Potatoes South Africa Small Holder Programme in Katkop, Maclear in the Eastern Cape province.

The Small Grower Programme is a tool used for addressing Food security, Skills Transfer and Uniting Rural communities with Potato Industry Role players.

The present economic status, requires households to be innovative and find alternative ways to spread their hard earned money. Potatoes SA, and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development share a common mandate aimed at access to healthy food, from homesteads.

The small grower initiative, where communities are taught how to plant potatoes, has for years provided rural communities with strategies to improve their livelihoods
