Chipsy Dagwood Sandwich

Directions

  • Heat the oil in a medium pot over medium to high heat. Gently place the chips into the oil and fry for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy. Once cooked, remove the chips from the oil and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
  • To assemble the sandwich: take one slice of toast, followed by a lettuce leaf, a burger patty, a slice of cheese, a few chips, some pink sauce, a slice of toast, a slice of bacon, an egg, lettuce, a second patty, some more chips, a final slice of cheese and finally, the last slice of toast.
  • Top Potato Tip: To make your own pink sauce, simply mix a ¼ cup (60ml) mayonnaise, with 1 Tbsp (15ml) tomato sauce and mix well.

  • sunflower or vegetable oil, for frying
  • 6 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chips
  • 12 slices of white bread, lightly toasted
  • 8 green lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 8 thin beef burger patties, cooked
  • 4 rashers of streaky bacon, cooked crisp
  • 8 slices processed cheddar cheese
  • 4 medium fried eggs
  • pink sauce
  • extra chips, to serve
