Creamy Mashed Potatoes And Mince

Serves 4 Amasi adds a satisfying tang to the mash.

Directions

  • For the mince, heat the oil in a frying pan with deep sides and sauté the onion for a few seconds.
  • Add the mince and d, with a fork, stir with a fork until all the meat is broken up.
  • Add the chilli sauce, curry powder, garam masala, turmeric and ground cumin and stir to combine.
  • Mix in the carrot and stock and continue to cook until the carrot is soft.
  • Cook the potatoes in plenty of water until soft. Drain and set aside.
  • Gently fry the garlic for a few seconds and spoon over the potatoes. Add the amasi, butter and season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve the mash topped with the mince while still hot. Garnish with parsley.

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 300 g lean beef mince
  • 10 ml sweet chilli sauce
  • 5 ml curry powder
  • 2.50 ml garam masala
  • 1.50 ml garam masala
  • 1.50 ml ground cumin
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 125 ml chicken stock
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 170 ml amasi
  • 30 ml butter
  • 2.50 ml salt
  • 1.50 ml ground pepper
  • Fresh parsley, to serve
