Directions

  • Heat the oil in a medium pot over medium heat. Add the onions and fry for 5 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Add the mince and fry for a further 5 – 10 minutes until well-browned.
  • Add the tinned tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 20 -25 minutes, until most of the liquid has reduced.
  • Spoon the mixture into a medium oven-proof dish and top with seasoned mashed potato. Scatter with grated cheese and bake for 20 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  • Serve with cooked, frozen peas and tomato sauce.

  • 15 ml Sunflower or vegetable oil
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 500 g Beef mince
  • 2 cups chopped, tinned tomatoes
  • 30 ml Tomato paste
  • 5 ml Dried mixed herbs
  • 5 ml Salt
  • 5 ml Ground white pepper
  • 6 Large potatoes, boiled & mashed
  • 100 g Grated cheddar cheese
  • Cooked frozen peas, to serve
  • Tomato sauce, to serve
