Steak served with creamy mash and Chakalaka sauce

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a 12 hole muffin cups and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and cinnamon.
  • Add the eggs, oil, potatoes and vanilla essence. Beat until combined. Stir in the pineapple and raisins.
  • Fill the cups ¾ full and bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing and setting them on a cooling rack to cool completely before decorating.

Ingredients

  • <h3>CHAKALAKA:</h3>
  • 10 ml (2 tsp) sunflower oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) tomato paste
  • 1 g mild chakalaka
  • 1 g baked beans, drained
  • <h3>CREAMY MASH:</h3>
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled
  • 150 ml milk or mageu
  • 15 ml butter
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
